About Me
Nidia Celis
Registered psychologist under the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2015. I completed a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, also completed training as a Clinical Traumatologist from the Traumatology Institute in Canada; and I’m EMDR Certified.
I believe that to be an effective psychotherapist, a combination of knowledge and skill is important but also, and more importantly; it is to have an understanding of the client, which occurs within the process of building a genuine relationship, and getting to know the individual’s needs, values and beliefs in order to achieve change in the therapeutic process.
I strive to provide a space where my clients feel heard and understood, so that we can find together the way through what is affecting their life.
I am originally from Colombia, where I also completed training as a psychologist. I am able to offer services both in English and Spanish. I mostly work with individual adults, and I also support families. Through my training, I have explored a number of approaches, as I consider that no single approach would be fit for everyone.
Thank you for finding me, I look forward to hearing from you!
